Next Steps was set up in 2001 in North Yorkshire to help local people with mental health problems. We are managed by mental health professional Leisa Burniston, who has over 24 years experience in Mental Health and Social Care settings, eight years Management experience and has many qualifications in mental health such as a Diploma in Management in Social Care Organisations, an NVQ in care. Courses/training completed in child protection, ASSIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), and has trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), all Mental health training courses (self harm, schizophrenia, personality disorder etc), Safeguarding Alerter, First aid, lone-working and many more.
Next Steps Well-being Center supports people with mental health problems, well being issues and preventing isolation and loneliness in Ryedale, North Yorkshire, by providing a drop-in centre, activities and outreach groups Kirkbymoorside / Pickering and pop ups through out Ryedale.
We are a user-led organisation and work closely with GPs and the community mental health teams to ensure that people who are affected by well-being issues are supported, as well as those who suffer from Isolation/loneliness and mental health issues.
Our ultimate aim is to develop self-confidence for members, improve their work prospects and access to statutory services, help support positive family relationships and prevent loneliness and isolation.
